WhatsApp continues in its fight to combat misinformation and false news that always circulate on social networks. Now with this new measurement that is a test version, WhatsApp will indicate the number of times to message is forwarded, in this way we can draw our own conclusions if this content is false or not.
“Now users can see the number of times a message was shared”
This new feature at the moment is not official for all users, because it has been found in the latest version of WhatsApp version 2.19.80. We still do not know if this function will be relevant when chatting. But we must also take into account that it is a good measure to measure or assess whether information can be true or false.
So far WhatsApp only tells us by means of a message “resent” below the text, but with the arrival of this new function, it may show more information about it such as the number of times it was forwarded if the content is viral or false.
Will this new function really help us? More than helping us is a curiosity that allows us only to see how many times this information is shared. We still do not know how WhatsApp would indicate when a message is viral or not, “very shared” can be an example or better still show a small notice in the traditional chat indicating “frequently resent”.
This new function only shows us more information when forwarding a message, but does not take into account when the user simply copies and pastes something that is very different. So WhatsApp is really counting the forwarded messages? It is something that they must handle with more subtlety to offer a better service.
WhatsApp will indicate the number of times to message is forwarded, very apart from this, it is known from a very good source that WhatsApp negotiates with Google to check whether a received photograph is real or mounted by means of a search engine.
